A planning and listed building consent application was submitted by Maybern in December 2018 which sought planning permission for proposals to erect a permanent memorial to the Peterloo Massacre (1819) on the 200th anniversary of the event, on a site at the corner Windmill Street and Lower Mosley Street and adjacent to the Manchester Central Convention Complex. Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller worked in collaboration with the Manchester City Council and the Peterloo Memorial Campaign group on the design of the memorial.
